The Middle East is a region where automobile is king and fuel is cheap, often leaving little reward to find more environmentally-friendly methods of moving.

But this year, as protests across the Middle East have risen the cost of oil, the concern of discovering alternative sources of fuel has actually entered sharp focus.

In a region that has among the highest carbon footprints in the world, one organization is making the most of the growing pressure to find options to oil. It's established the first scheme to recycle cooking oil into biodiesel. It's proving successful too, currently their client-list consists of McDonald's.
